Face to Face

Posted September 14th, 2012 by Leah and filed in Word of Encouragement

If you know me well, you know that one of the top things on my list labeled I DO NOT LIKE TO DO is exercise! I enjoy being active, but exercising- not really! Since I want to be strong in the Lord in every way, I now have a personal trainer. Wow, yes, isn’t that great! Lauren and I are working out in the garden then running laps around the grove. At least I am sweating while gazing upon the FACE of the beautiful flowers.

Besides getting in shape, I am thoroughly enjoying hearing about ‘life’ from Lauren’s perspective. Recently she made the observation that when I talk to people, I “get in their FACE“, which makes people feel uncomfortable! Soooo, I have been pondering her statement, and she is right!

I guess I could say I am experiencing a bit of a hearing loss as I broach mid fifties, but the truth is…I like to be close and look you in the eye, FACE to FACE. But I’m not the only one…

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and the darkness was over the FACE of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the FACE of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Thank goodness God got in the FACE of darkness and dispelled it with his glorious light! He created something wonderful out of something empty and void of beauty. I am drawn to light. When someone has a countenance of grace and light on their life, I want to be close to them. I want to get in their FACE.

But the Bible tells us that when God called to Moses by name out of the burning bush, Moses hid his FACE, for he was afraid to look at God.

Have you ever felt that way? I know I have. But the reason God called Moses, and calls us to come close…

But then the Lord said, “I have seen the affliction of my people…I have heard their cry…I have come down to deliver them and bring them into a broad place.”

He sees you. He hears you. He came down from Heaven so he could dwell close, very close…in your heart. Where you go, he goes and when you find yourself in that broad, good, spacious place, it is because his FACE is upon you shining light and life.

The closer Moses walked with God, the more obedient he was to God and partnered with God for God’s cause, God spoke to Moses FACE to FACE, just as we talk with our friends!

Seek God’s FACE. Seek him with all your heart…above all the rest. King David cried out continually in the Psalms for the Lord to shine his FACE upon his people. Jesus’ brother, James, tells us to draw near to God and he will draw near {in your FACE} to you!

Take a break, go stand outside, look up and let the rays of the sun, Son, shine in your FACE. And don’t be surprised if someone wants to get in your FACE! For the countenance of Christ draws friends and foe alike. It is a strange and marvelous mystery…Christ in us, the hope of His glory!

My prayer for you this weekend is the priestly prayer from the Old Testament, Numbers 6:25,

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his FACE shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up his FACE upon you and give you peace.

In your FACE and loving it!

2 Words you can trust

Jesus said

Jesus said

Jesus said, “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”

Those words may not have sounded like good news to Jesus’ disciples, his closest friends during his time on this earth, but, like me, they learned that this was, now is, a promise of our Savior that we can trust, count on, daily.

Thank you Jesus for our relationship. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit of God who imparts life to our mortal flesh and points me to Jesus. You in me…me in you, what a wonderful mystery! My personal helper, guide, counselor and friend! Help me not to grow weary during this season of __________________. You know all the desires of my heart- please help me to be patient and put you above all the little plastic gods that try to lure me away. I repent and I am truly sorry. Nothing is worth more to me than you Lord. I am struggling with ______________, but you know all things. Speak Lord. I need to hear your voice over my own.

Jesus said

Jesus said

Jesus said that those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. I am the beginning and the end…I know everything. I am teaching you my ways which are higher and far better. I go before you to protect you and guide you. There is a time for everything, a season for every purpose under Heaven. I am your daily bread, eat and drink, partake in a relationship with me and you will never be thirsty again. Living water will flow from your life and I will give you eternal life.  Trust me for I am with you till the end.

I close my eyes, I bow my head, I believe the Words written in red. I know there is more to life than I can see…I believe. {song lyrics by Brooks & Dunn}

Live a naturally supernatural life this week! You don’t have to do this alone…Jesus said.

little by little, day by day…

Posted August 27th, 2012 by Leah and filed in Word of Encouragement

Living on a farm is such good training ground for me. Maybe you can relate to this…  My personality is one that prefers all to be beautiful, orderly and complete so I can be about my life. To be about my life- concentrating on the things that bring purpose and meaning. But God works in our lives in stages, little by little, day by day, in the midst of the mundane.

Exodus 17:1…  All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of sin in stages, according to the commandments of the Lord…

Life on The Farm is a continuous cycle. As soon as I finish weeding the last bed in the garden, the first bed needs weeding again. As soon as Jim and his John Deer finish cutting the back part of the grove, it’s time to cut the front again.

God moved the Israelites in stages. Life is a process of taking the next right step, which supernaturally imparts meaning and purpose to the everyday mundane.

God moves us through life in stages, seasons, and gives us victories one step at a time.

Dueteronomy 7:22…The Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little.

Exodus 16:4…Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day…”

Lord, please help us not to be impatient as you produce Christ-likeness is us, day by day, little by little. Each new day brings a new season to stand under Heaven and receive, to gather, our daily bread. Prompt us not to run ahead or gather more, but hunger for daily bread, the perfect portion to sustain us each and every day.

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life…”

He will give you exactly what you need today.

Please join me Saturday, September 8th as I share tips and ideas of how you can “Create your own Space” like a design pro. This event celebrates my friend and interior designer, Carolyn Moor, recently joining Angela Neel Interiors, a beautiful and sophisticated shop in Winter Park Village, offering full-service interior design.

As we enter this new season of Fall, come grab some pastries, coffee and design inspiration as I show you how to create a well-designed space. I will be signing my book, Interior Wisdom, a great gift for any occasion. Christmas will be here before you know it and I would love to sign one for you!

Remember…the difference in ‘good design’ is in the details. Come let me share some of those ‘details’ and inspire your creative side!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Hello friends, please click HERE to read my husband’s guest post for our friend, Erica Van der Laak, who is a missionary in the Netherlands. Jim and Erica became close friends while working together at the Broad St. Mission in New Orleans. Jim witnessed the amazing and miraculous, and this is just one of his many stories…CHEESEBURGER BUNS!

Savor Jim’s “cheeseburger bun” story and let it settle in your heart, once and for all, that God cares about the desires of your heart, when you delight in Him!
