Soul Staring

Posted September 10th, 2014 by Leah and filed in REPLENISH, Word of Encouragement

Last week Lauren and I took a mother-daughter trip to NYC for her 30th birthday and had a blast! She is such fun to be with, and this trip turned out to be no exception!

Screen Shot 2014-09-10 at 7.50.55 AM

Lauren has a great boutique in downtown Orlando, Lauren Nicole, so taking a holiday to the City during Fashion Week called for finding a good spot to people watch. We sat for hours watching Fashion bloggers, designers, well-heeled New Yorkers, models and the like. Although we didn’t have a high-powered lens like the paparazzi, I found myself staring intently…which caused Lauren to continually poke me to “stop”!

I’ve been thinking about how much I love to “observe” {stare} at people and let my mind wander wondering about their “back story”, as my friend Hattie calls someone’s history. Lately I have been reading the Bible this way. The fall REPLENISH at The Farm October 24 & 25 will focus on the beloved story of Mary breaking open her alabaster jar and pouring out everything she had on Jesus.

Have you ever thought about Mary’s “back-story”? Why she would risk everything, surrender completely and worship Jesus in a way that totally disregarded all the people, friends, family and strangers, in the room? Have you ever let everything go, sitting perfectly still under the hand of God forgetting the natural and allowing God to weave His life together with yours…regardless of the circumstances or what “friends” say?

I hope you will join me for Replenish as we stare deep into Mary’s soul…recognizing similarities…discovering what needs to be broken open so our lives can be “filled with the beautiful fragrance”.  As Mary anointed Jesus with all she had, she unwittingly left an eternal legacy.

Jesus said to those at the table…Leave her alone for she has done a beautiful thing to me and this will be her legacy.

Replenish yourself in a beautiful setting with beautiful sisters, together discovering the beauty of pouring out our lives, completely, for Jesus. Besides my teachings, you will hear a personal story from each of the team members, Marcy Boutz, Gail Ratzlaff, Jessie Trigger, Dee Mueller and Laura Hemmerle, relating to Mary’s story. We will eat together, worship together, get creative together, pray together…be REPLENISHED together! For more info on REPLENISH, please click HERE.

Watch for the REPLENISH INVITATION in your inbox and posted on Facebook later this week. I encourage you to take some time to stare into Mary’s soul, and your own, by reading her legacy found in Matthew 26:6-13, Mark 14:3-9 and John 12:1-8.

Let us leave nothing unsurrendered, but fearlessly stare into our soul…

Illusions…a word I have been dwelling on recently.

Illusions: Falsely held perceptions or beliefs.

A big Illusion to overcome…We have a right, as Christian women, to live a trouble-free life!

The reality is that the JOY of the Lord is our strength and confidence in good times and bad.

and be peacefully assured,

for through Him, we can overcome and weather the storms we face in this world.

Let’s praise God in the storms…

Count it ALL JOY brothers and sisters when you face trials of various kinds,

for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

And let steadfastness have its full effect,

that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Wonderfully REPLENISHED!

Posted October 21st, 2013 by Leah and filed in Leah Richardson, REPLENISH

Gail, Dee, Jessi, Marcy, Gina and I, the REPLENISH Team, welcomed 26 beautiful women from around the state of Florida to The Farm for the Fall REPLENISH!  God provided perfect weather! One of the sweetest things I enjoy watching happen…precious sisters becoming new friends! The theme this year surrounded the word “Ornaments” from the 33rd chapter of Exodus.

Here is a little snippet of my teaching…

Remember when Moses and God were up on the mountain crafting the 10 Commandments, the perfect plan to prosper His people in the Promised Land. Tired of waiting the Israelites crafted their own God, an idol from their excess ORNAMENTS. So God decided he would send an angel to guide them into the new land, for he might consume this stiff-necked people if he went with them. They were devastated! They mourned and no one PUT ON THEIR ORNAMENTS. God told them to STRIP themselves of their ORNAMENTS, REMOVE their ORNAMENTS.

Although this is an ancient story, we too get impatient when asked to wait. We find ourselves cycling in and out of the wilderness with one eye back on Egypt. For too often, we’ve chosen the ORNAMENTS of the world over our relationship with God. Those accessories, temporary bobbles that eventually fade and lose their beauty. Those things that give us a false sense of security, feeble love, distract and even enslave us.

What are some of those ORNAMENTS you wear yourself out desiring…chasing…grabbing at every chance…run after- even it means going back to Egypt?

The Israelites had to choose, and so do we. God’s Presence or all those ORNAMENTS that decorate our exterior. Those ORNAMENTS we cleverly hide behind. Some we are relieved to lay down, some not so much.

ORNAMENTS I challenged the women to consider…Complacency, Self-Salvation, Self-reliance, Self-rejection, Control, Manipulation, Performance. These are all intangibles we park in our heart, but there are tangibles ones to consider like our appearance, address, children’s accomplishments, church work…

Anything that comes before our relationship with Jesus is an idol. And idols put intense, unnecessary pressure on us!

So again, what needs to go? be removed? striped? purged? edited?

We can trust God, for God will never leave us bare, naked or ashamed! He has already covered you with His ORNAMENT of Grace, the ORNAMENT of Heaven, Divinely appointed and custom-designed just for you! The beautiful ORNAMENTS of

God’s REST…Come he says, unto me.

God’s RIGHTEOUSNESS…His beautiful Robe covers you perfectly.

God’s LOYALTY…He is so loyal to us, will we be loyal to Him?

Draw us Lord and we (mind, body, soul and spirit) will run! Trust God to show you what ORNAMENTS to lay aside, and run after God!

The weekend was chocked full of good fellowship, food, worship, teachings and creativity! Gail and Marcy shared personal stories and guided the women in creating ORNAMENTS out of clay. Jessi ushered us into God’s throne room with beautiful songs of praise. The  entire team enjoyed the privilege of loving and serving sisters in the splendor of God’s beauty and holiness! I praise Him for his faithfulness in REPLENISHING us all with His presence.

My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest…peace…success…everything will be o.k.  (Exodus 33:14)  The most beautiful ORNAMENT of all…God’s presence!

p.s….a little shout-out to the women of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in J’vill, FL…I look forward to being with you this weekend to share some Interior Wisdom!

Posted January 25th, 2013 by Leah and filed in Interior Wisdom, REPLENISH, Word of Encouragement

Monday, Jim and I hosted Edie and Linda’s bridge group at The Farm for a Mini-Replenish. Winter is a time of rest and reflection, in nature and our spirit, so I took the opportunity of this quiet season to share some Interior Wisdom for the home and heart…anticipating a beautiful new Spring!

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.  Ecc 3:1

The women drove in from the city around 10:00 and enjoyed coffee and a snack as they toured the Farmhouse. I shared a teaching and sent them off to do a Prayer Walk around The Farm before Jim served lunch. REPLENISH is all about taking time to pull away from the busyness of life to reconnect with close friend and an even closer God.

God has clearly shown me that a healing begins for all who come. God has anointed The Farm in this generation for such a time as this…and Jim and I both relish being a steward, servant and heir.

I encourage you to go outside, into nature, and do a Prayer Walk of your own. Consider these notes as a spring board to reconnect you with God this weekend. Let this season of Winter quiet your soul.

As you walk about The Farm, get honest with God and let the natural and spiritual hold hands…for all is of God. The season is Winter. A time of REST and REFLECTION before the INVIGORATING NEWNESS of Spring. Remember, regardless of what Winter holds, we can always count of the perpetual fresh start of Spring!

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.

Ecc 3:1

What has cluttered your home and heart that needs clearing out, editing? Why do you hold onto the broken things in your life? Let go of the stuff that so easily encumbers and entangles you. Consider simplicity and learning to live with less.

What is the focal point of your life? Your home? Is it clearly discernible to family and friends? God desires to be that focal point, that anchor and refuge. Release those little idols, for your security and identity are in God alone.

Maybe you have been running hard after everything else but God. Life happens fast and we find we have wandered down the wrong path…again! Jesus said for us to Come to him if we are weary and burdened and He will give us rest. Commit your schedule to God, again, and ask him to create margin, breathing room, in your life. Margin in your home, your schedule, your finances. What needs to happen for you to live a life of devotion and rest in this season of your life?

Jesus promises us His yoke is easy and His burden is light. How do you feel when you read what God has to offer you is a time of rest, days that are easy and light? Let go of those weighty burdens for God is faithful.

What is that ONE THING you want to change in your home? In your heart? God knows us completely. He knows our heart’s desire. Name that one thing?

Finally, reflect on those things that add beauty and dimension, texture, to your life. What makes you smile, truly happy? Those are blessings God has generously poured out on your life! Spend some time in thanksgiving…thank him for everything!

God has made everything beautiful (beautifully appropriate/ a beautiful fit) in His time.

Ecc 3:11 (added)

I am praying you will choose to create margin in your life to enjoy God this weekend.
